About Heather
Hello from sunny San Diego! My name is Heather and I am the proud dog mom to Miss Millie. She is a beautiful and wickedly talented 6-year-old Portuguese Water Dog. I am starting this blog as a way to chronicle life with a PWD for those who may be interested in the breed. About Heather
It is also a place for PWD owners to commiserate on the antics of our special dogs and learn more about the training I do with Miss Millie. And finally, it is an outlet for me to get my crazy stories out there……you wouldn’t believe what can happen to me.
A bit about me, I’ve lived in Colorado and Southern California for my entire life. I went to high school in Orange County and then moved to Denver to attend University of Denver, after graduation I stayed in Colorado.
After 12 years freezing my buns off in the winter and boiling in the summer, I finally realized that I needed to get out of Colorado (yes I realize I’m a slow learner.)
In January 2009 I packed up and moved my Molson dog to San Diego and I haven’t left. Molson was a Chow Chow, Newfoundland, Retriever Mix, I had her from the time she was 5 weeks old until she died about 6 months after Miss Millie came to live with us.
She was my first dog and the very best first dog and I wouldn’t have survived puppyhood with Millie if it wasn’t for Molson.
My Passion
My life is very blessed and I try to give back in any way possible. In my professional life I am a fundraiser with the organization viaONEHOPE, my business, More Than a Bottle, works with nonprofit organizations to fundraise and with businesses to offer client gifts that give back. I am also business consultant helping small to mid-size businesses find more profits through system and process automation. My passion is giving back and my work with ONEHOPE wine allows me to do that while making an income.
I have a very close family and thoroughly love spending time with my niece and nephews. My sister’s family has two cats (and yes Millie wants to be their friends/chase them around) and my parent’s have a Sheba Inu who isn’t quite sure if Millie is friend or foe.
My Portuguese Water Dog
Through Miss Millie I have learned about training, agility, water work, and so much more. Things I never thought about with Molson. Actually, scratch that……Molson would NEVER have lowered herself to actually listen to me for more than one command. She was the Princess of the house. The Chow Chow ran strong in her. She was the best first dog to have……except the shedding ☹ that was no bueno. But I digress.
Miss Millie and I are a great team, when I am not being the uncoordinated clown that I can be, and I look forward to sharing our story with you.
Come follow us on social media to see what we are up to!
Cheers!
